Thare are 35 tasks and you only need to complete 30 of them to acquire the mech (12 if it is a newer account). I would focus on the other tasks so you can unlock the mech.

You have up to 48 hours after the last day of the event to complete the tasks.

The event currently is not set to restart itself so you have until it ends.  However, all players will have the chance to get the mech from the special offers in the store (ie pay for them) or in the future when the event is re-launch.

So if you miss out on this event there will be an opportunity again in the future to participate in the event again to acquire it.

If you were not able to acquire it in this event then yes, you will have to wait for the event to be re-launched.
