Splash Damage

In your recent changes to disk launcher, one change I find tremendously fair is "Splash Damage will no longer be able to deal increased Damage to the sides and rear of Mechs." Something I have always thought is splash damage is already a modified form of damage, literally meaning "damage dealt from missing", and therefore shouldn't be subject to the additional modifier of flank/rear damage bonus (which would make more sense as a reward for getting direct hits in these areas). Will we see this excellent change affect all splash damage, as would make sense? Or, is it literally just being removed from disks to make old meta obsolete? I mean, got to get those sales, right? Haha.

I agree that discs are too overpowered but I think a better option would have been the reduced damage further away from the target only. Not that and no back or side bonus damage.

They shouldn't have touched arcs as they aren't even meta anymore so why nerf them.

I don't like the side and back DMG removal nerf, that nerfs it way too much. The other 2 nerfs are fine, but players do need to get compensated for the nerfs.

About side and back DMG that the most players complain about, i never really struggled against it, i actually barely get hit in the side or back by a Disc Launcher. I know how the weapon works. I do specific hard to explain movement and turning to avoid other Discs or to minimize the DMG i get (which is mostly only on or 2 hits, not alot of DMG). Removing the side and back DMG goes too far, that would make it equal to a Epic weapon, it's still a Legendary weapon ya know. I'm fine with the other 2 nerfs, those make sense.

How about players just get better tho.

Hey, I get it. People like getting rewarded for missing by still doing damage, then extra rewarded for flank/rear damage boost on top that. It's like being rewarded twice for being a bad aim! Haha. I guess learning all that vertical aim assist stuff isn't going to be as useful anymore, either. So irksome.

I know, I'm weird. My opinion is rear/flank reward should go to players getting direct hits in vulnerable areas during battle, which is often difficult depending on players skills, rather than just getting a complete miss that happens to do damage. I will concede though, from all the QQ, I guess a lot of people needed this.

Nades, launchers, and pods may still give the bonus on splash! So all is not lost.

Yes that just makes disk launcher the only weapon that doesn't get flank damage on splash, which not only doesn't make sense but is also going to be the reason DL becomes useless. I'm with you. Flank damage bonus should only be from direct hits. It would make more sense to change MA so that's how it is rather than making that change to just 1 weapon.

I feel like this is a good place for a Tell us "flank/rear bonus on splash damage is locked behind a paywall" without telling us "flank/rear bonus on splash damage is locked behind a paywall" meme.

On second thought, that may be too wordy. I'm sure there's some way to sum this up...

So at the end of the day, here's the real question: Does splash damage work the same on Nade Launchers, Cryo Launchers, Missile Racks, Voltaic RPGs, and Storm Racks as it will for Disc Launchers?

Yes

So then, up until this change, Disc Launchers were the exception to the rule.  Have I got that right?

I'd say that they have a bunch of unusual mechanics that led to such an advantage. This feature was rechecked, and it was decided to rework it
