Derby last day: really?

The biweekly derby requires players to achieve 65 goals out of 70. 5 new goals are released every day.

Today is the last day, and so the last 5 goals have been released. Unexpectedly (or maybe expectedly?), they are much more difficult to achieve than the previous ones: to capture 5 control points in a same game, to win 6 games in a row, to become 9 times the best player while playing with friends, to be the best player with 3 mechs (the podium with your three mechs on it?) and to kill 5 mechs without being hit.

Why make the last day so difficult? Is it to "invite" the players to consider visiting the shop, in order to make a purchase (a goal in itself) and buy some stuff (for instance a currency) the need to achieve other goals, like improving the rank of a mech/pilot?

Considering that Mech Arena is heavily "money oriented", to put it nicely, it is the best explanation I have so far.

[Addendum] And by the way, the derby price is an implant for the Fusion Cannon, which must currently be paid with IRL money, starting at $36 for the smallest one. Your business, my money, and the latter will not feed the former anymore.

---

Note: Playing sniper, I betted on the "kill 5 mechs without being hit" task to get my 65th and last achievement. Despite I had 9 kills in my first game, most of them without being hit in return, I didn't get the task done. So it looks like we actually need to kill at least 5 mechs without being hit at all during the game, which is extremely difficult in my opinion, and is an invitation for camping and kill stealing.

These long events has always had the hardest tasks with only one day to complete. Numerous players have shared your same feedback. The developers are aware of this feedback and have chosen intentionally to do what they want, anyways.

Nevertheless, thanks for speaking up. The forums are dying lately.

Actually, the developers are just implementing the requirements they get from "elsewhere", and they have no power except, maybe, deciding how to implement the requested features.

In my opinion, the root problem is actually deep inside Plarium's business strategy, which seems to be "get as much money as possible and as quickly as possible, even if the players get the feeling of being screwed and quit". It is basically a variant of the famous "3F" business model: The customer, you Find it, you F*ck it, then you Forget it.

Hello! First of all, thanks for your feedback on the last day of the Event, it will be considered and passed on to the devs. You are heard.

Secondly, the motivation for such Objectives is to make the Event exciting and competitive. In our imagination, the most skilled players should receive the end-award.

Finally, we are constantly collecting and analyzing all the feedback we receive. We know all the current issues and are actively working on them. Still, it's impossible to please every single player, as their desires are usually mutual exclusion.

I've seen you use this line "it's impossible to please every single player" quite a few times in response to various threads/topics. I think it is an acceptable rationale when it comes to some complaints that are truly subjective entirely to taste (i.e. visual appearance).

The OP is actually stating a rational objection. The tasks are unrealistic on the final day. You are simpley reframing it by saying "the most skilled players should receive the end-award."

Skill isn't enough in these tasks. You need to play a massive amount of games in order to get proper maps (many of them aren't suitable for 6 captures, for instance). Usually 4-5 captures is sufficient to win the game, so getting 6 captures usually requires you to LOSE a beacon ON PURPOSE. Also, getting 3 MvPs, while not an impossible task, is one that is not done in every 24 hour period. The issue is not SIMPLY the difficulty of the tasks but also the limited timeframe in which to do them.

For instance, I missed out on the reward, having participated regularly for 13 days in a row, due to traveling on day 14. What a shame :/

Hello! The feedback on the complicated Objectives for the last day of the Derby was passed on to our developers today 👌

@CrystalDrew: thank you for your anwer, but don't you think that the MechArena developers deserve the highest respect for their jobs? Aren't they all skilled professionals who do their job perfectly, that is, implementing what they get from above?

Clearly, the problem is not the developers - their outcome works -, it is your business people. These are the ones who are responsible, tho ones to pass our messages, not the developers. Obsiously, when the same problems arise again and again and again and again, they are not problems anymore, they are business decisions.

And it would be so nice to not consider the players - your customers - taking their time to post here as if they were born yesterday. I mean, what's going on is obvious like a nose on a face... Thanks for your understanding.
