Matchmaking Feedback
Just wanted to give a little feedback on matchmaking.
First, with the exception of tournaments, I think it's getting a little better. I've been noticing that my CPC and PVP (non-tournament) opponents have not been quite so far above my squad power than they have been in the past. I haven't had anyone more than about 800 points above me all weekend. Also, the performance of some of the bots is getting pretty good. Much more like players than I've ever seen from them. Great job!
Second, while within 800 points of me is good, I'd really like to see that brought down to within 500 points of my squad power in either direction (plus or minus of it).
Third, I've heard that, because they want this game to be challenging to the players, the more you win, the tougher your opponents. Mech Arena, please keep in mind that there is a difference between challenging and punishing. I'd like to think that I work hard on being a good player. I strategize and seriously think about where I'm going and what I'm doing. I don't just rush out and bash my head into the enemy like an early bot. I don't want to be penalized for good game play. It's really the biggest reason for my second point above. There have been times when I can tell that I'm going to get beaten even before a match starts - why? - because I've won four in a row or because I pulled in half or more of my teams kills or something. Please don't punish me by simply throwing opponents with better gear at me. Ideally, if you can get the bots done right, there should be levels of bots (using gear similar to what is in my squad) that simply use better and better tactics. This would be the ideal way of "challenging" a good player.
Finally, I've said numerous times that I'm an achievement hunter. What this really means is that I have some legendaries that I've purchased (by saving ACoins, I'm still F2P) or won in events, but I don't use them. I'm often worried that I'm considered an SP dropper by the system, in spite of the fact that I consistently run the same squad. I could easily have a higher squad rating, but don't by choice - doesn't matter if I'm in CPC, PVP, or tournament, I'm usually running the same setup (or one with a lower power yet). As you make the changes that are needed to catch cheaters and make the game fair (and thank you for even trying!!!), please don't forget about people like me who may have a legitimate reason to be running a squad at a lower power.
I do have a suggestion on how to deal with some of it for matchmaking, but this post is long enough and I've already typed a paragraph that started with the word "finally". :)
Thank you for the work you do and for considering some of the above points.
