Hello!

I don't think the increase of spam has anything to do with Forum update.

Sometimes we receive less spam, sometimes more. Moderators have quite a convenient feature to deal with spamming posts and doing their best in it.

As for choosing moderators for Forum, the process is quite long and many factors are taken into account. It's not a secret we can hire moderators who didn't spend many time on Forum before prefering for communication FB Group. But all of them have good knowledge of the game and enough in-game experience that allowed them to pass the selection/probation period.

I thought about applying for Moderator a few weeks back when Plarium was looking for Moderators. First lines of the application made me reconsider. I live in Norway, I am not considered being a part of the native English speaking community.

That said, I don't think they want me anyway. I speak too freely.

Uh, why on earth would I want to vent and rage at some place that have absolutely no meaning what so ever, or purpose? I know I can be a critique and sometimes harsh at that. But I see no reason in go to some page and went and rage for no other purpose than just that. I doubt any message what so ever you want to come across to Plarium will get picked up that way.

I see no reason what so ever to rage, or act out like that. Vent frustration? sure, but that is something quite different.

As Jezebel, said, no not the same. but similar. Can take the beacon mechancis as a example of that.

Jezebel, because venting in the wrong way gives the MODS and the CM no choice but to give a warning in message and/or slap a ban on, us MODS have to obey the rules and 1 thing I do know, all the bugs reported for your server  in the bug report section we experience those same bugs on the facebook server

I am carefull how I word things on the forums so I dont break the rules but still get my point across

Gadheras, I have just mentioned in another thread agreeing to Snowgoon about the beacon mechanics being different with forcelimit on the facebook server but as I said there, the forcelimit never stopped our server from becomming a beaconfield wasteland either

You know, a good moderator doesn't need to have any knowledge about the game what so ever. A good moderator just need to be a good moderator and that is to be a janitor, help keep the forums tidy and police rules a forum is govern by. And that applies for any kind of forums. If they got some good knowledge of topics and can chime in, even better, but shouldn't be a requirement. Moderators shouldn't be lore keepers or go to people for help with game mechanics, and so on...

If good knowledge of the game and in-game experience is the preferred requirement, it doesn't necessary make a good moderator imho.

Not in our case. We hire moderators not for them to be only a janitor, help keep the forums tidy and police rules a forum is govern by (though, these points are important as well). We hire moderators to help Community Managers with players' questions as well:

- Community managers reply to players' feedback and overall concerns.

- Moderators reply to the questions related to the in-game mechanics, help Support team process Bug Reports, share their in-game experience when we discuss players' feedback.

Taking it into account it's very important for us to have moderators who know the game well.

Sir Dan Saul Knight, I agree with you on many points, we all have different personalities, I am 1 of the calm personality types, but In saying that I have seen many times where players have been given so many chances to play by the forum rules with many warnings given in message to them before any ban is placed and even then the 1st ban is not a permanent 1 from what I have also seen.

As far as the spam goes, I deleted 4 today from the game discussion thread just before, that's a lot more than I normally see meaning they have found a way  in and I still have more threads to go through yet

Noticed that it's now 3.4 million (increase by at least 400K since a month ago) registred users in these forums. Number was higher (3.55 million) a few days ago, spam bots removed?

You kinda get levied into the forums when you start play one of their games. If it had been actual forum users. I think the mods would walked out :p

Something is sertainly going on. Another 70.000 members gone from the counter. As it was at 3.55 million at the time of my initial post above. I did notice a big influx of "new" members over 2-3 weeks. After checking yesterday it was at 3.4 million members and now at 3.3 million. At least they are being removed.
You're right, the number of users on Forum is decreasing. In terms of GDPR, our devs started to remove those users who are registered on Forum, but not active for more than 3 years already.
I see. I thought it was bots, but was partially right.

3 years........ how about.... half a year? would be much more accurate to active metrics.... In some other games I play, inactive members get kicked out if they not been around for a month. Keeping so much dead weight around just bloat your numbers to reflect an activity just not there. Maybe good for investors and share holders maybe, but for actual players its a real turn off.

We're deleting users because of GDPR that makes companies delete data of the inactive for more than 3 years users.

We won't delete the data of other users as they can return to the Forum and ask why it was done. In our Forum Rules we don't have any information that we delete data of inactive players.

Interesting points, but you would probably all know that  every MOD is a gamer of the game so all of us have a lot of gameplay experience  ourselves no matter the servers we play on, almost all of the Stormfall Games work pretty much the same, all have barren beaconfields, all have upgradable offense and defense, all have the same buildings, etc. As I said, the only real difference is the upgradable catacombs you all have on the plarium server but their upgrade functions only have 2 benefits, 1 is to preserve a certain amount of resources from raids and the other is to keep our troops safe with automatic send to catacombs when they are upgraded to the max

With the spam, everytime I log into the forum,  I am always deleting those spam accounts  as spam sometimes more than 1 or 2 each time as I find them, each MOD checks all the threads when they log in, we delete the spam as soon as we see it

With the forum rules we all know them, what is required of us all, yes us MODS still have to obey those same rules too as they are there for a reason 1 to keep it civil and the other is because some Adult players do allow their children and teens to play the game with them and the last thing they need to be seeing if they check the forums for advice on a bug or just general game help is another player hurling abuse at others because they dont like an aspect of the game

If you feel you really need to vent then there are pages for the game called Rage Page and New Rage Page to use where I often see people vent as much as they want to
