i tried a few max tickets

now down thousands of sapps and no reward at all.. useless... and yet some players got multiple rewards 3+ in 2-5 raffles... from what i see it looks like the people who won lots spent lots in game... but alonya "assures" us they are completely random... surree nice one. actually fooled me for a minute. i should have known something was up.

The winners are chosen randomly. Some players can win several times. It depends only on their luck :)

Side note:  This does NOT count as gambling in most countries, because the rewards have no redeemable cash value.  (This is pretty much the same reason it's not illegal in most places for children to play poker for candy).
canada, US, and the UK all forbid raffling except under certain circumstances. Plarium doesnt meet these circumstances.  this is in fact illegal.

whether it is legal or illegal, it is gambling.  this is not a casino game on xbox.  this is a game that revolves around a "hard currency" of sapphires, purchased with legal tender.

it being legal is not what matters to me, it is gambling.  when you say "it is not gambling"  what you mean is it is not illegal.
Yes that is what I meant.  It is not legally considered gambling, even if it is clearly gambling.  (at least under US law, I've been advised that it may be illegal in the EU).

you lose if not win 100%=100 sapphires each ticket

with this calc you calc only the 20 sapphire that plarium collects each ticket in his pocket based on value prize

And what if you win, not lose, Jumy? :)

In light of recent comments made in respect of the Prize Draw feature in the Stormfall: Age of War, we wish to clarify that contrary to some of these comments, the Prize Draw is not to be considered any type of gambling, as the prizes offered are virtual in nature, can be solely used within Stormfall: Age of War, and cannot be redeemed or exchanged in any form or manner in return for real life currency.

Alonya.... that is flat out wrong.

jsut because you "clarify" it doesnt make it legal.

what makes it illegal is that its a raffle.  It has nothing to do with the prizes.  the fact that real world money is spent to purchase tickets.  and it doesnt matter that spphires can be won in game...because the game doesnt not distinguish between whats bought and whats earned.

it would be legal if you used runes of fealty, or something that cannot be purchased with real world money.  its the TICKET that makes it illegal, not the prize.

Alyona, do you even read what you write? I know you can't possibly believe what you wrote.

What the currency is is irrelevant. Plarium is asking us to pay a small amount in the hope of winning a larger amount. That is the definition gambling.

Your argument should be as to if it is illegal gambling or not but the fact that it is gambling is undeniable.

Lords and Ladies, the answer about Prize Draws has been given several times. The Prize Draws feature is not to be considered any type of gambling and we gave you clear anwer on this matter, that's why I'm closing this topic.

As Jum said, its not about the prize its about the entry, and there is no difference between sapphires earned in game and the ones you buy in regaerds of obtain said tickets.

Imagine some kid use their parrets CC and get a bunch of sapphires to buy tickets for, the parrents find out, does a charge back, and then you end up in a dispute claim. I would think enabling gambling for kids would start float then.

Yes and i think the only correct comment that you made

60,000 * 1/500 = 120 sapphires

120-100=20

I win always 20 sapphire each ticket in line with theory ?

Even for Greearium this is a new low.

Anything to make a profit.

EPIC prize draw tickets, 3000 at 100 sapphs each. Cost tp players 300,000 sapphs.

EPIC prize draw prize 251,400 sapphs.

What does the resulting 50k profit go to? Charitable causes like a real lottery?

Scumiest thing I have ever seen. Plumbing new depths. Will make sure this gets reported in the gaming media because you deserve to get absolutely slaughtered for this. It also lays bare the true Plarium that will do anything for money better than we could ever do with our own voices.

Literally stealing from your customer base and providing a gambling service which:

a) will be illegal in many places

b) is certainly illegal for children to play pretty much across the entire world

Surely on no more than the grounds of morality this should never have been signed off by an executive. This marks you out clearly as the money at all cost scum bags you are.

Congratulations, you reached a depth that even my cynical bitter vet self could never have dreamed of.

All you do is just complain, not sure why they dont get rid of you from these boards. Max entry is 300 tickets (30k sapp) for single player for EPIC prize. So if you win, your profit is more than 200k+ value. Many games have such stuff like gambling and I don't think this game is for children anyway lol, its not farmville. 50k Fee goes to plarium obviously since they host it. But plarium is not a single player right ? So who cares? you are obsessed with conspiracy so much. You can say people who have alts might go and buy the prize, but it wont benefit them because of that -50k fee that goes to plarium which is some kind of protection from smart wannabes.

Vakonziko your understanding (or lack thereof) of statistical averaging amuses me greatly.  Of course it's not uncommon, and is the same reason real lotteries are so popular. Plarium could easily have set these up with a slight net positive value, where the total cost of the tickets is just a bit less than the reward.  It converts sapphires into troops which people will then go kill, so plarium makes money either way.  And that would encourage significantly more people to buy them.

Side note:  This does NOT count as gambling in most countries, because the rewards have no redeemable cash value.  (This is pretty much the same reason it's not illegal in most places for children to play poker for candy).
But you don't have to buy max entries. If you buy 1 instead of 50 you have 49x less chances to win. So from 100 sapp theoretically you can make 80k sapp + other stuff from epic chest.
Yes, you could make a profit.  But you probably won't.  In order to calculate the net value of a single ticket, we multiply the chance of winning from 1 ticket by the value of the stuff you can win.  If we look at the middle lottery, there are 500 tickets, so your chance of winning with 1 ticket is 1/500.  The value of the items to be won is 40k sapphires.  so 40,000 * 1/500 = 80 sapphires.  This means for each ticket you buy, you will lose on average 20 sapphires.

So from 100 sapp theoretically you can make 80k sapp + other stuff from epic chest ( depends on luck ) like in all lotteries. And there is various chests, some of them offer the same sapphires, various boosts etc. For example i spent 5k sapp (50 tickets ) on standart prize and won 20k sapp + many other boosts. And won it many times lol, even with less tickets too.
